The governor of Buenos Aires Province, Axel Kicillof, criticized on Friday President Javier Milei's labor reform project, stating that the government's initiative "has nothing to do with the freedom it so often proclaims." In a post on social media X, the provincial leader warned about the negative impact the labor reform would have on vacations and workers' "right to rest." "If Argentine workers and families are deprived of their right to rest and take their well-deserved vacations, then that freedom is nothing more than a speech," Kicillof pointed out. In his post, the governor published a video from a summer conference where he mentioned a poll showing alarming data: "57% of families cannot take their well-deserved vacations." The government's labor reform project, among other aspects, reduces the cost of severance pay, modifies the financing model for them through the creation of the Labor Assistance Fund under ANSeS, allows employers to split their employees' vacations, and cuts employer contributions.
